Red Dead Redemption constantly freezes

Anyone know a solution to the famous freezing problems in RDR?
I've googled it but no one knows a solution for the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

PS: I'm not using a backup manager, I'm playing an original copy.

I have RDR & RDR undead nightmare, they both boot fine with no freezes on KMEAW 3.55, using multiman. I also have installed BDEmu, not sure if that's why they work fine. Load from latest MultiMan and select no when asked to direct boot, when back at XMB launch game.

If that fails you probably have a bad backup or transfer if through FTP. Use WinSCP to FTP it to console as it's always 100% successful.

Might TRY a backup of it, with MM's settings... my backup of RDR works great. But (Off-THIS-topic) Undead Nightmare keeps giving me that damn Video Output Error.

when i was having random freezing problems in rdr it turned out to be ylod,
most times it would freeze then it just started shutting off blinking the yellow light and flashing red lights until i powered it off

I got a new slim played thru 100% of rdr with no freezing whatsoever. Its probably the beginning of the end for your ps3. Most games i could play but rdr (and some other sandbox games) would just stress it too much.

I got my new PS3 this February, it works perfectly. It might be the overheating that's causing the freezing, probably because of bad air circulation.
But what's strange is I've played through GTA IV, MGS4, and Street Fighter IV and they never froze, not even once.

Open it up and clean out the dust......

If it's still under shop gaurantee, take it back and complain complain complain, make sure you hype it up saying it freezes all the time, reboots, crashes back to xmb and so on. I have seen quite a few people do this, especially in GAME retailers, and they usually just swap the machine. If they decide to test it just persist and telling them to keep retrying. Remember to back up your saves and game data, make sure they delete your accounts and you can just redownload your PSN content on the new console.

thats probably your problem, rdr just seems to put more stress on it than most games ive played. i could play some games for hours and hours but open world roaming games like rdr and oblivion would freeze after 10-15 mins.

clean it out and give it room to breathe.

Good advice, I'm gonna try putting it on a place where it breaths better.
