Question about swapping Bluray Drives
Question about swapping Bluray Drives –
I have two PS3 PHAT consoles. One is a CECHK03 and the other is too old that the model # didn't survive till now. It is an old 4 USB, 20GB (upgraded to 500GB), No Wi-Fi unit. Attached is a photo of the Bluray drive. The CECHK03 has the YLOD while the other works, but the Bluray drive doesn't. I'm currently on CFW 3.55, FSM with the remarry files ready. I'd already begun the remarry process but it got stuck at the beginning (executing) stage. After some research, some people suggests that it gets stuck because there's a disc in it. I've tried to eject the disc but it's not responsive, I've also checked that it's properly connected, I'm guessing this is because I haven't remarried it yet. I was opening the drive to remove the disc but the screw driver broke
Right now, I just want to know if the Bluray drive from the newer console will work in the older one. I also have a SLIM CECH-2501B running OFW 4.46 but I doubt that'd be of any help. Just in case though.
Thanks for any help.
i am pretty certain thie drive from the cechK will NOT work with a cechA - cechE or vice versa

Thank you for the reply. Noted. So what options do I have now?
This is how i have always fixed bad blu-ray drives. As long as the ciruit or logic board on the drive is still good. I will take a good blu-ray drive from a bad or broken ps3 and remove the logic board on the bottom of the blu-ray drive and swap the blu-ray drive with a good ps3's broken blu-ray drive(the mechanical parts) with good logic board and then i have a perfectly working blu-ray drive to go into my working ps3. It works every time. The keys and such are stored in the logic board so all you have to do is put the logic board on a good ps3 drive and you are in business.
Thank you very much for the reply, remmeyone.
