PSN Account Questions –
Hello This may be a little long, but bear with me as I'd hate to have my new PS3 banned. I just need some advice!
So way back, I had 3.56 OFW installed before connecting to the internet. I had installed 3.56 OFW after playing around with CFW on 3.55, and in my attempt to go legit after 3.56, i formatted the HDD which corrupted and bricked my whole ps3 thanks to the bug in the 3.56 OFW.
I managed to get hold of a new ps3, but this was also precisely at the time sony got hacked and forced people to update their accounts etc. I don't quite remember what the deal was exactly, but I think I remember that for you to play on the account you had BEFORE sony got hacked, you had to reactivate your account on the ps3 you had BEFORE sony got hacked. Since my ps3 was bricked and I got a new one at this time, I figured my old account was doomed.
Fast forward to today, I'm using a different PSN ID since then (my ex GF's email actually) with all my saves and trophies on it etc. But I'd really like to go back to the account I was talking about above. I've logged into the old PSN account through the Sony Entertainment Network website (sorry can't post links yet..) and it doesn't say I have any trophies, games connected, no PS3 connected or anything. It's like an account that was never used. I can attest to it being used with a purchased game BEFORE i decided to jump onto the 3.55 CFW train, so SOMETHING should surely be recorded, somewhere?
I can live with losing all my trophies since they are non-transferrable between accounts. Save games would be really nice to transfer though, like through a USB stick. Would this be possible, or does it vary from game to game? I've transferred saves before using a USB stick, but only to the same PSN account/PS3 after a system restore.
But to my main question; if I decide to log into my old account (which seemingly doesn't have anything recorded or tied to it whatsoever, whether it be PS3 systems or games/trophies etc.) on my "NEW" PS3, is there a risk I will be banned? As far back as I can remember, I was extremely cautious to NOT go online in any way when using CFW. I updated to 3.56 using a USB stick, and since my ps3 bricked shortly thereafter (being offline), and I got a completely new system with new hardware/HDD etc., it never saw the light of the internet pre-3.55 (as far as i can remember).
Any advice? Is it safe for me to log back onto my old account and see what's up with it?
Let's say it were to be banned upon logging in, is it jus the PSN ID that is banned, or does it ban the entire console?
As far as I'm aware, no account has been banned for use of custom firmware. The only recorded bans I've read about have come about from hacking saves, or playing online with mods allowing cheating to occur. I was using 3.41 CFW, I received an email from Sony informing they had detected modified firmware (or words to that effect). I did upgrade to official firmwares for a year, I've now downgraded again and I'm using the rebug CFW. Throughout that time I've used the same PSN account, with sync'd trophies.
So, I'd say yes it is safe for you to log back in using your original acocunt. It most likely is not showing anything attached to it as you need to accept their terms and conditions on the PSN first.
it should be safe if you before played online but did not cheat or get banned on any game or banned from online
using that account then it should be alright for you to use your old account or maybe if your saying that before the attack on psn
where evryone had to change to a new psn id in order to get online and all old accounts were taken off then maybe its your call
to make a new id you can try logging in and if it goes threw then all good but more time it might ask you to make a new account
which i would take option 2 go with a new account and save yourself a headache and maybe even a banning from online if you do manage to get into your old account.
I wouldn't worry about it. In the years I've been on this site, I've never heard of anyone being banned for anything but cheating online.
I've used the same account since day one BEFORE and AFTER the hacking scandal thing and i've never had a problem, i dont see why you'd be banned for someone else hacking $ony? i'd say just go for it, it'll be fine
Yeah I've never cheated with a game online or even been online AT ALL while on CFW (so no online cheating even possible). I'll log in to my old account and give it a try thanks guys
