PS3~ Possible currupted HDD?
PS3~ Possible currupted HDD? –
Heya, I'm a bit new here, but a friend of mine said I should go here if I were looking for help.
Anywho my PS3 (300gb model, was on the current update) started acting a tad... Wonky.
Then, a few months ago, something happened, (I'm assuming the hard drive's messed up) and now, whenever I start it up, it says I need to do a system restore, which takes 12 hours to get to 50%, then it restarts itself. I tried formatting, basically everything in the boot menu, and even tried calling up customer support (Alot of frelling good that did me) And they just suggested I sent it in, or format it.
And since my warranty seal is broken, here I am :P
Has anyone else had any problems like this? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
if i am not wrong your Only Option is to Format the HDD .
I have, Multiple times :/

Try a different hard drive, perhaps the hard drive is literally on the way out, which may explain why you can't successfully do a system restore.
You shouldn't have to reformat whatever drive you put in for the PS3, it should do that for you, but if for some reason that doesn't work, try formatting the new drive via an Ubuntu live CD or whatever.
On the way out?
Yeah I tried using another HDD but noone I know has a 300gb model, and for some reason that is the only HDD my PS3 chooses to accept.
I don't have an ubuntu live CD or whatever. I don't even have any kind of CFW on it.
did you tried to update it via Recovery Mode ?
Yes I did. But no luck
were your PS3 on OFW 3.5x and higher before ? i mean the factory Firmware ?
