I let someone check it over, he said he reflowed and that didn't work, so he then reballed it, (I think their the names) and still couldn't get it to fix, is my PS3 just screwed? I'm giving it someone else to check over tomorrow, so hopefully he can fix it! As it's a FAT CECHMO3 3.55 model, The PS3 still turns on though, after say 10 - 30 minutes of pressing the on button, it seems when it's warmed up it turns on straight away.

If I get a graceful period where my PS3 doesn't turn off just before I get to a checkpoint and play for about 10 minutes, if my PS3 turns off I can press the ON button and it will turn on straight away, should I explain this to the guy tomorrow?

What the !? The person who reballed your ps3 is surely a fake . Or not a pro .
There is a store here where they professionally reballing ps3 for php4000 , if you convert it to dollars it will be $100 .
They have the machine to work on the perfectly aline the new solder they will put and it is more heat resistant . They replaced the flux and the chip on it . I asked them to fix it and you can watch them do it right in front of you for only 2 hours. They then did some stress test and it works 9 hours. That is back on February 25 . Now its October 10 . It works pretty flawlessly up to now

It should also be noted that the chip he reballed may not have been where the broken solder connection was located. While most commonly the issue is the RSX's solder points, it could be the CELL's or any of the other BGA soldered chips.

If it was done at homeone's home perhaps they didn't do the job professionally/correctly, or even caused more damage.
