PS3 YLOD Business Warranty
PS3 YLOD Business Warranty –
I have a PS3 YLOD business on the side to supplement my income and mostly do YLOD and lens repairs. I give out 30-day warranties on all my fixes like the "pro" shops around me.
About 1.5 months ago, I fixed a PS3 that had a YLOD and it worked for about 23 days. The owner called me and wanted me to look at it again or do a refund. I agreed. However, she never gave it to me before those 30 days were up, even though it stopped working within the warranty time period.
What are your thoughts on this? Does she deserve her money back since it broke within the warranty time or does she not because she didn't drop it off for me in those 30 days?
Under UK law at least if you bought something in a shop and it failed 2 days before the end of warranty, as long as you inform them before the warranty ends then they are obliged to fulfil the warranty claim. If it takes 1 week to get the unit inspected and the warranty expires by that point does not matter. They informed you of the issue while still within warranty and you should honor it.
I reball machines as a sideline too and provide warranties too. In your situation I would do the repair again and provide a new warranty. If it ends up failing again within the 2nd warranty time period then I would refund, minus 20% for the time and effort I already put into it.
yes I agree too...
You have to keep in mind 50%+ of this type of business is word of mouth, at least that's how it is here.
even though that person isn't satisfied with the service, they might tell someone else of the professional service that they received from you. and that may start a new "chain" of customers.
