    Hi,

My ps3 randomly turned off the other day and now i can't seem to get any power from it. I was playing around with the wires and i'm 90% sure that the thing blu ray cable is what the problem is, the golden contacts are damaged on one end, so much so that I cant trim the ends to fix it that way.

Or should the ps3 still power on without that cable?

SONY PS3 KEM-410ACA Motor Cable i was having a look around on the net and found this, is that the cable I need to connect the blu ray drive to the motherboard? I can't see a model number on my drive so I'm not sure what the KEM-410ACA means

    Thanks for any help

If no power at all I'd guess it was the power supply that's failed
Unless it's Carmen Electra calling for an emergency titty f**k I'm not here

I thought so too, but while I was moving the wires around I did get the golden contacts to touch and the power came on so that's why I think its the data cable thats the problem.

the ps3 should still power on even if the drive is not connected, i think.

but if the contacts are damaged, replacing that ribbon cable may be your best bet and yes that is the cable you will need, ebay would probably be better because they usually have better descriptions model numbers, etc

if you have an old atx psu lying around or an old pc you can dismantle you can use it to power ps3 and see if its the ps3 psu. its easy and their are alot of tutorials out their that show you how. if that doesnt power it up then buy the cable.
