PS3 won't insert disk - infra red broken
PS3 won't insert disk - infra red broken –

Hi, I recently changed my BD drive because it wasn't inserting any disks in drive, and laser was not working.
I swapped the old BD drive mainboard to new one, and it wasn't inserting disks again.
Found out on youtube that you can check if infra red sensor is working with any remote controller (they are all infra red). When you press and release the button on remote pointing on IR, drive should "turn on" and start checking disk.
So on both drives, IR wasn't working. My guess is that something is wrong with BD mainboard then. (?)
Question is-is there any way you can insert disk without IR sensor?
I guess it will be very expensive to swap chip from one mainboard to another and who knows if the IR will work then (maybe both drives have the IR sensor broken). Any suggestions?
Thanks

Not all remotes are IR a lot of them are RF. The only ones I have that are IR are the ones for my ps2 and old xbox.

Hm, I tried from Samsung Monitor/TV (P2470HD) and from old Altec Lansing speakers.

You know the old remotes that you had to have pointed straight at the thing you were using those are IR most thing have gone to RF because it works so much better. I'm not sure about the ones you listed. It is very easy to mess up the cable on the IR bored you can get the little bored with a new cable on Ebay for a few $. If you put the drive bored thats not paired to your ps3 will it try to work? (I know it wont read but I think it'll still take the disk in like normal)

I tried universal remote and no luck. I guess the universal must be IR. I guess I can try the new board (you typed bored
), but if it won't read disks, I don't have the use of it.

Lol yeah it's no surprise to find a few typos in my posts.
I was just telling you to try the unmarried drive board to see if it would take a disk. If it does then your drive board is bad not the IR board.
