PS3 in weird state
So I have an 80GB PS3 K01 model and I wanted to upgrade to a 250gb HDD.
I installed the new hard drive without thinking and it took me to a screen saying the system storage partition is corrupted provide an update and press start and select.
Now all went well, the hard drive was formatted, until the system update where it hung at 99%.
I let it sit like this for about and hour before I flipped the switch on the rear and retried the update.
Same thing happened.
And I repeated this process until I tried to boot into safe mode,
Couldn't boot into safe mode and brought me to the update in progress screen.
Now I finally gave in and called sony, they told me to try and put the old hard drive back in and see if it booted to the regular OS.
It didn't and brought me to the same screen saying the system storage blah blah.
I turned the system off and tried going into safe mode.
Safe mode worked with the original hard drive so they made me try options 3 and 4 which also brought me to that black system storage screen.
They said there is no more they can do and I had to send it in to them for $120.
I told them loln0pe.
After this I tried both options 5 and 6 which both just made the system freeze.
I was changing the hard drives because I was going to have the system flashed to 3.55/4.41 CFW.
Now since I have told you exactly what happened,
what can I do?
Would the person flashing be able to repair it with their E3 flasher or would this problem only be solved by Sony?
Help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
Sorry about that mods.
i take it your on latest ofw?
Yes I am.

It got to the point where the update was at 99% and it froze.
I let it hang there for 1 hour and it did nothing.
Going to format the original 80GB HDD and try it again.
Another Update: So I retried the update today, once again got stuck at 99%, but this time I let it sit for about an hour and a half.
It did complete the update and brought me to the restored PS3 setup screen, I completed the setup and when it went to boot it got to the "WARNING" message and then froze and went back to the "press the PS button or install the update" screen.
I hit the PS button it tried to do restore file system and got stuck on 1%, I killed it and went to safe mode.
Tried option 4 and it went to that black screen again.
So now I am trying the update again.
That just completed and the same thing has happened,
I think it may just be my hard drive.
Will try an other one later on and report back.
Before doing anything you should allow the console to complete what it is doing, without switching it off from the back switch..!!!

I do let it complete what it is doing.

It is not installing anything nor is it reading from the hard drive when I cut it off.
I had turned it off during the update but that was with the guidance of sony support who said to.
But you are right, I may brick it and crash the hard drive.
I don't care about the hard drive as it was only $5 and I have others. :P
Sorry if I came across rude by the way.
Just had a long day my friend.
