    So I am thinking of hooking my PS3 to my monitor I play my Dreamcast on so I can play it a little more as I don't get much play time on my ole 60 inch due to it being the family TV and my three year old rules that biatch. Anyhow I was thinking of getting just a HDMI to VGA cable instead of one of those pricey PS3/Wii VGA cables that look uber cheap anyhow and going to give out not long after buying and since I can't find an official Sony option for this I have to go this route. Anyhow the HDMI to VGA cable doesn't support audio can I just pull audio from the component cables I have for my PS2 since they are PS3 cables anyhow? I am just not sure if I could use both at once and want to know before I buy a cable that I can't hear my PS3 on and then have to resort to the pricey PS3/Wii cables and wasted cash on a junk cable as I have no desire to even play the Wii here let alone waste cash on it.

    I have one of those PS3/Wii dual VGA cables. I strongly.... STRONGLY (notice how it's bold?) advise against getting one. Mine is a useless piece of shit that cost me nearly £30 ... the damned thing "works" but I use that term loosely as it only works when it feels like it, blinking the screen to black at random intervals. It's enough to drive you friggin' crazy.

    Only one way to do it right: HDFury Gamers edition.
    - No issues with HDCP
    - Audio output (3,5mm minijack and optical)
    - No EMI

    @Sabin
    I experienced similar issues with PS3/Wii-cable. Put ferrite chokes on both ends of the cable.
    There are snap-on versions like this one:
    Snap Choke Core - RadioShack.com

    It should reduce sreen blanking

    I don't use it any more, but you think it was signal interference causing the screen blanking? Damn knock-off shit

    What i use is an hdmi cable that has a converter to dvi on one end that plugs into my 24" LCD and then i use the standard composite cable with an RCA to 3.5mm adapter to plug audio into my speakers. Works perfectly and gives me crystal clear 1080p with excellent sound on my 5.1s just have to man up and get some optical audio going so i can get the true 5.1 experience =D

    When the HDMI cable is plugged in it will ask you if you want to display audio and video through the cable. If you say no i think it outputs over the standard composite/component output port.

    What ever you chose you just have to go to sound settings and there is an option to allow multiple audio channels or something, then just set it up to run out the normal av/component cable.

    Its all set out plain as day in the options, two minutes playing with shit will get you there.

    Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis That's exactly what I use.. it's a nigh-perfect experience.

    @atreyu

    your only options is to buy a Sony's YPbPr/RGB Component Cable and a RGB-VGA Converter. Then also, check if your monitor is manufactured under year 2005 (Sync-On-Green, if your monitor dont have that feature, you might get a darker and flickering on your screen, because the PS3 and your monitor is not synced properly.).

    Then once you match up the cable between you PS3 and VGA Monitor. Go to your Video Settings and choose RGB and the cable option. Then after that you're on VGA..
