ps3 update prob need expert help

right where to start got given a 40gig uk version ps3
heres the prob when i got it was in a update loop
so this is what i have done and FAILED thus far

took the hard drive formatted on pc long format as i read that helps somewhere.
placed back into 360 let the ps3 format and install it back to normal its currently on 3.30 fw,
now regarding the update tried via disk first black ops fails 62% loop so done above process again
then tried offical 3.4 ,3.41 .3.50. 3.55 fw from sony site again fails 62%
tried a 320 gig hard drive fresh out the box formatted etc tried all the above again failed at 62%
doing some reading i read that it cud be the wireless card so changed that from a working ps3 my mate has no joy same 62% fail
tried different ps3 blu ray took logic board of old one to new one still same 62% fail
so basically got a ps3 here with 3.30 fw on it and it wont update via any soure media,net or usb
tried 3 different hard drives same result
any help would be gladly appreciated

forgot to mention i have tried taking it apart and removing cmos battery left it out for a whole day and still gives 62% error
its currently not in loop just on its 3.30fw which i cant update at all

TAKE it from no replies that i have ps3 that is fooked then lol
tried everyhing off net my conclusion is corrupt flash chip??
even rang up sony and asked to speak to engineer waited 38mins on phone finally got one said basically its fooked and no way out of it i said can i quote you on that said not a chance as we dont want that in the press
you know what that means.... means they brick older consoles m$ anyone
