hello, i have a cechg01 model and after some 10 minutes after startup it gives me and warning PS3 "system getting hot" message please turn off ps3. funiest thing is that fan isnt trying to run faster it keeps going the same speed all way long. tryed to make a so calable fan test but it wont turn on. I openened the ps3 and saw that teh fan is actually working but not in full speed. also notice that the psu is very hot.
any ideas, thank you in advance.

when you opened it, did you notice how much dust build-up there was? either your fan is clogged full of dust and cant spin, or your heatsink is too clogged up to actually work, or the fan itself is failing - or ALL THREE. you should take this opportunity to change the heatsink thermal compound and do a thorough cleaning of dust EVERYWHERE

yes i looked for dust, there were some but not very much. ok, all take it apart and then came back with results. Also its good idea to use compresed air to clean ps3 boards and psu unit?

You can use compressed air as long as it's not 1000psi LOL. Especially the heat sink, it's got many grooves and places you can't get to by hand.

The issue is most likely the thermal paste that has dried up over the years. You'll most likely need to remove the heat spreaders on the CPU/GPU to replace it aswell, but this is kind of hard :P

Probably is thermal. My fat FW3.15 started switching off after two to three minutes. I new it wasn't ylod and when i opened it I was shocked to see the amount of dust. But the main reason is that there was no thermal compound left. Just fragments of dry thermal. It is still in pieces in my room. Got to get around to that someday.
