    Hi!
I noticed that my ps3 slim uses 24W while in standby. A while back at CNET they had tested the power consumptions for both the slim and the fat in different situations. And they got <1W at standby for their slim. So I wounder what actually is using "all" that power. I don't use wi-fi so it shouldn't be that.

Any ideas? I guess there aint many that has noticed this but I would be thankful for any thoughts.

Hmm, I don't know what it is then. Remote Start is the only thing that makes your "PS3" aware when it's shut off that i know of.

Actually, I notice on my PS3 (its a phatty tho) that when I turn it off even if Remote Start is disabled the fan keeps running till its cooled completely off. Maybe wait an hour to make sure the cooling process is done. I have no idea wether the slims cooling system runs till its cold like the phatty or not either. But thats my only other idea.

Well, I haven't noticed that the slim would be using the fan after it's been turned off. But I had to test it in case it was so silent that I didn't hear it. Just did it on the slim that hasn't been in use for 12+ hours. And still 24W.

(No USB devices, only HDMI, ethernet and an optical cable connected)

My power monitor also shows 20+ watts while in standby on hte PS3 slim. I also have a phat PS3 and it is only using about 1W in standby. Very disappointing.

Thanks for the info! Now I know that it's not just my PS3 that behaves like this.
I cut the power cord and installed a lamp switch so now I can easily switch off the power to the PS3.

That's about 17 KWH per month. With $.20/KWH in the northeast, it's about $3.50.

It's not a lot money but I hate excessive standby energy usage.
