PS3 Slim Sound but No Video

Hey everyone!
I'm sure this might be posted somewhere else on the forum but I'm gonna ask anyway. Ok...I have a ps3 slim that i just picked up. It turns right on with no problem, except I have NO video. Yes, I've tried the video reset trick but nothing works. Sounds works perfectly and will even load a game, i just cant see it. The only video I can get is if I go to the recovery menu. And when i get to the recovery menu the letters are somewhat pixelated and somewhat distorted. I can also get video if I do a system restore and it will take me through all the setup and everything but as soon as its supposed to go to the main menu...just a black screen. I can hear it start up, but just blackness. Now I've tried the 4 penny thing with no results. I've hit a dead end and cant figure this one out. Ive searched every forum and youtube video i could find and none of them have helped. PLEASE!!! Someone out there has got to know how to fix this!! PLEASE!! Anyone??

Did you try to reinstall the System Software?

ive tried every option under the recovery menu and still nothing...im lost.

Would the HDD be causing it to not show a picture?? Also this system is on 3.56, if that matters.

Try updating to the latest OFW(4.11), I know the first release of 3.56 had updating hdd problems but maybe it has other problems as well. Also if you using a HDMI cable try using the AV cords and vice versa.

tried to update, get the 8002f25c or whatever. and tried av cords as well...no go.

Anyone??? I can hear it load up...it plays the little song and i can hear it clicking through the menu, but just cant see the damn thing!! so frustrating!!! trying to update that way.

GPU is game over. reflow might work but reballing a new GPU would be your best bet.

They why can he see the video in the recovery menu?

Well today I went and picked up some no-clean liquid solder flux and some new thermal compound. I just got done reflowing the GPU with the new flux and am waiting for it to cool ATM. I will update here afterwhile and let you all know how it went. It was a free PS3 so if I destroy it, then I'm only out the $6 I paid for the flux and a few hours of my life. Might just suck it up and pay the $80-$100 to have it reballed.
