PS3 slim hdmi ~versus~ Samsung LCD 40inch screen
PS3 slim hdmi ~versus~ Samsung LCD 40inch screen –
I tried 2 different hdmi cables with no luck, ps3 displays up to 1080i in component cable but switching to hdmi gives only blackscreen. I have tested the ps3 with hdmi on another hdtv and it works with tha same cables.
is there anything I can do to test other modes maybe? apart from the ones on the menu as none would show anything..
its a bummer not to have hdmi link when both ps3 and hdtv have it.
okay any help would be appritiated
Have you tried to insert it on a different port of the tv?
Have you tried changing PS3 video settings to hdmi (try 720i) (xmb)?
try this –
1. Turn on TV and set input to HDMI port being used.
2. Make sure PS3 is connected via HDMI.
3. Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.
yes I already tried that it didn't help. I also updated the TV firmware with no results.
I was hoping for any PS3 options tweak (if there are any) and not the ones from the menu since I already tried everything.
anyway thanks a lot for the replies!
try to change the name of the hdmi (on the tv) and see if it works. i have a hdtv too (samsung) and it never happened to me the problem ur having.
Edit: I was searching on google for the same problem and it has a long list with the same problem (ps3+samsung tv= no video in hdmi)
Whats the tv series?

Have you tried to disable Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) on your TV and PS3?
Setting on PS3 is in settings>system settings>control for HDMI.
Mine works as it should (LE40C535) but I read somewhere that Anynet+ can act bit funny sometimes.
I have the same problem when I go to my friend's place to play some games - apparently, the particular model of the tv can't display PS3's 1080p, but can display 576i, 720p and 1080i.
We've tried Phillips & Sony HDMI cables, we messed around with the mentioned Anynet, but failed miserably.
If you could somehow get to the HDMI settings without blackscreening, you could tick the first 3 boxes (the mentioned 576i, 720p and 1080i resolutions), but leave the fourth box (1080p) unticked. That solved the problem for us.
If you do have a black screen, there are videos on YouTube where you get step by step PS3 HDMI setup when "blind", so check them out.
I had the same issue with my Sammy. Solution is a shorter HDMI cable. 6' max. Don't forget to reset your video by holding the power button until you hear two beebs then let go.
you may want to try and turn off the display after the video reset, then turn it back on again to reestablish the hdmi handshake. my tv blackscreens on occasion and turning it off/on fixes it.
again thanks every1 for the replies I tried everything mentioned with no luck. here are some news on the case:
first of all the bloody model is LE40B530P7WXXH
just now I finally got my hands on a fat ps3 and tried that too just to find that the same problem occurs. I get black screen in every possible resolution with HDMI. I tried many cables. I tried xbox360 with HDMI it plays fine on the TV. but PS3 won't budge. Im stuck with component
gah I hate samsung!
I also tried any compination of the tv settings for display like ratio and stuff. disabled anynet. tried in every one of the three HDMI ports. I can't understand it. It doesn't make any sense that only the PS3 can't work! damn!
**there has to be a way.. does any1 have an idea if there's any kind of an hdmi hub or something to trick the TV into showing something in such cases...?
