You can use a vacuum if you take your PS3 apart, but if you've still got a warranty you're better off waiting. Make sure to keep at least 2 foot clear behind the console to get rid of the hot air and keep it off carpet.
You can also speed up your fan pretty easily too. Supply 3.3v to the grey wire of your fan and it'll run full speed. Use a 3.3V voltage regulator, powered by the 12V line on the fan to run it at 100% and you can also add a switch so it's running normally, then you can press/flick the switch and boost the fans for a few seconds/minutes (this is what I've done).
Since you've got a slim I don't think it's YLOD or a sign of it.. Check the HDMI cable is properly connected.
I get this on one of mine, I use a DVI to HDMI convertor but it's all solid plastic and the weight of it ruined the PS3's HDMI socket. So I got a female-female adapter and now it's only a HDMI plug in the back of the PS3, then the HDMI-DVI is in the middle of the cable so it works fine now.
