Ps3 repair (not reading games)
Ps3 repair (not reading games) –

Okay, so I recently got a few broken ps3s and wanted to either try and fix them up, or mix and match parts to make a working one.
On 2 of them, the supposed problem was that the logic board was dead/bad/defectrive. I tried taking a good logic board from one of the ps3s and put it on and discs would still not load, I even tried to entire drive and they would not load. Sometimes the loading icon will show up, but the disks will not and it will just infinitely "load". I tried to rebuild the file system as well to no avail.
Now, I know there is ways to remarry a drive to a logic board, so my question is do you HAVE to do that to make it work? Assuming I go through the process to do that, should they read discs after?
Also one of the 2 drives would not take a disc when I try to insert it. It will make a horrible loud grinding/clicking noise and the blue light will blink but the disk won't go in. I saw online that it could be caused by the gears being messed up so assuming I could get a new motor and insides for it should that one work again?
Lastly, on the third one it has a dead motherboard. Is something like this worth trying to track down and buy to try and fix it, or should I not bother with that one and just worry about the ones that seem to just have logic board/blue ray problems?
I'm not really tech illiterate so I'm comfortable opening these up and doing whatever I have to to fix them, so any help or advice about the possible causes and fixes would be appreciated.

the chances are better that the ones that cant read disc media just has a bad laser, not a bad control board. the ones that grind when trying to insert a disc are just misaligned - easiest solution is to take apart the bluray drive and remove the little dc motor to be able to spin the gear it turns and reset the laser caddy. then re-assemble and it should be good to go. the dead motherboard one is a lost cause - no matter what you do, even if you got it to somehow work again, it will fail within a few months. spend your money elsewhere on that one
