    Hey guys

Bought a ps3 with ylod a few months back for cheap enough. I followed the guides on here and got her working again
About a month ago, she ylod on me while playing a game. I fixed her up again with the same method (heatgun, new thermal paste). She then worked for a short
while and broke down last week. I bought a repair kit which came today and it included No Clean Liquid Flux and a guide to flux the board.
I did it the way the guide said, and the way id normally go over the board with the heat gun.

I assembled her back together, started her up. Heres the problem, the red light (standby) is slower to come on than usual when i flick the switch at the back. When the red light comes on it immediately turns green (power on) without me even touching the button. I also notice there is no fan noise and no display. I even tried to insert a disc, but she wont accept it. I thought I had maybe forgot to connect a cable, i double checked and all the cables are attached in the proper places. Might I add that when this happens I cant even hold the power button down to properly shut the console down.

Did I **** up somewhere when fluxing the board or fry a component?

    Hi Mate,

Strange one, connecting and disconecting the blu ray ribbon whilst on standy will boot up ps3, i know you said the connections are good, but might be worth double checking the bd ribbon,

good luck with it and let us know if you sus it out.

A mobo should only be reflowed a max of 3 times before being reballed. Also, if you slightly bumped it while reflowing it, it could have bridged some solder balls under the component being reflowed. You also could have overheated the RAM or Caps, and caused additional problems. I would have a professional reball done on it, and have the ram and caps checked.

Hey blazie, so for a better word its ****ed?

I have done a couple of reflows before, not just on this one but on a friends one too. I havent moved it untill I gave it 20 mins to cool down.

Is there anything I can try for it?

Well, it's still worth repairing. A reball is pretty much the best fix you can do to a PS3, as long as it's reballed with lead-based solder, which means it will probably never have another problem. For now, I'd say check all the caps and look for signs that they're bad (bubbled up and expanded, leaking fluid, etc). Also, make sure that the tops of the ram chips and other plastics haven't bubbled up from the uneven heat from a heatgun, and also check for signs of board delamination. Reference photos can easily be found on google. If you don't see anything obvious, look for a professional repair shop that can reball the components. Depending on where you live, I might be the place you want to send it to, I own a professional electronics repair shop.
