PS3 Phat Black Screen of Death
PS3 Phat Black Screen of Death –
I have one of the first PS3 systems (60GB HDD) that has experience the black screen of death today. It's not a video problem because I can access the Recovery Menu easily with the usual steps of holding the power button in a particular sequence. In the Recovery Menu, I've already tried options 1, 2, 3, and 4 which are Restart System, Restore Default Settings, Restore File System, and Rebuild Database, respectively. Restore File System did not solve the problem. When I choose Rebuild Database, I get an error that the HDD cannot be accessed or something along those lines. What else can I do to fix this? Is my last choice to choose option 5. Restore PS3 system? I want to preserve my save games but restoring the PS3 system will delete everything, is there any other way to go around this problem?
Please help. Thanks in advance.
i think option 5 may be your only choice to try have you got a spare hdd to try in your ps3 before trying this just to rule out the possibility of it being a hdd problem i also have a 60gb console with black screen but i cannot access the recovery menu when i do the procedure to put it into recovery menu it just turns back off again so if anybody has any ideas on that 1 aswel as helping kevin i would appreciate any suggestions
By the way, the last version of Multiman that was in my console is multiMAN ver 2.00.02 BASE (20110522_190000) and with PS3 Custom 3.55 Firmware (KMEAW). Does this have something to do with installing a custom firmware on the console?
Have you tried re-installing KMEAW 3.55 from the recovery menu? This may fix your fault, otherwise you'll need a spare HDD and pick option 5 on the menu
