died by ejecting disk while the game freezes then ps3 turned off?
thanx for reply ,waiting for help
Thats not why it happened, that is just what you were doing at the time. The freeze or ejecting the disc probably had nothing to do with it...just coincidence. Laser failure is fairly common. You're either gonna have to replace the laser or drive. Or only play games that work discless.

The older ones are more likely to have the lasers fail...The only way to fix it would be ordering a new laser or drive and installing it. If you do the entire drive you will have to remarry the new board to the PS3, unless you find one of the same model, then you can just swap logic boards. Dust shouldn't be an issue unless you have some seriously bad cleaning habits
I'm in the USA, so I don't know where to point you as far as ordering parts but lasers can be found for about $35-$50 US, drives are usually $70-$100 depending on the model.

What specifically about it? I have just ended up in this predicament of having a dead br drive board and thought it was the laser. Replacing it with another is easy enough if you are confident about mucking around inside your box, but if not I am not sure how much is normally charged for repairing other than at Sony. I got a laser only part for my 60 gb (model kes-4000aaa/kem-400aaa) which cost about 47 plus 5 for shipping.. The 410 lasers are some little less expensive than the 400s but that price is the lowest I had seen around and I research pretty thoroughly. Purchased through game_unlimited at ebay , but only has a short warranty period of 30 days after getting it, where there are others with 6 months to 1 yr warranty. A good place to investigate which seemed very professional to me was the Gamer's fix (The Gamer's Fix) They had reasonable prices and shipped very quickly with tracking # and good communication. I will try them again in the future most likely.
Replacing the whole drive may seem easier for some if they are not sure of the laser being the only fault. But the price is about 70 for a used drive and still will need to swap logic board or marry new one to console. Newer drives are as much as 110 bucks, but it may be worth saving the hassle of DIY repair inside the drive which can be dodgy with the gears and springs if they pop off and you can't find how it went together again =) I'm getting pretty good at reassembly now, though. But I'd say if you are unsure, its easier to go with a known/tested/advertised working whole drive if you can afford it just because its less to troubleshoot if it doesn't work. From this I know first hand =S
Depends how tolerant you are of headache if its worth the risk to fix laser only or the money to replace whole drive...Right now I am having to look for easiest instructions to marry drive board to new console!!
What kind of link/info are you wanting? Tutorial? Video? Pics? or just links to vendors or service?

Search youtube for videos on how to fix the laser or replace the drive. If you decide to fix it, you might wanna do a complete teardown and re-thermal the chips, so you don't end up with that failing next and get a ylod... Again watch youtube for how to take everything apart.
On my old phat ps3 the cell and graphics chip were only half covered in white dried goop that looked and cracked like colgate toothepaste and was way thick and my fan was full of dust and always running on max. So I cleaned everything up good and used some arctic silver 5. The fan is huge and under everything...
Careful with the thermal pads, don't want any of those to go missing or forget to cover something up when you put it back together.
You'll probably need almost a full tube of arctic silver 5, but don't over do it, just make sure the whole chip is covered in a layer as thick as a sheet or 2 of paper until you can't see the chip anymore.
Now the fan almost never runs on high speed, probably saved it from ylod
