Ps3 not reading any discs
Ps3 not reading any discs –
As the title says I have a ps3 that will not read any discs. I have tried every possible solution so far and nothing has worked so I was wondering if anyone had some advice.
I have tried rebuilding the file system, trying different HDDs, trying different blu ray drives, and even swapping the lasers from inside and nothing works. My last option I have is to try and buy a logic board and remarry it to the drive and motherboard and hope it works. Does anyone think that this could fix the problem?
When I turn it on a put a disc in, the blue light will come on so it will detect the disc, but the disc loading icon will just sit there constantly spinning and it will not read the disc.
You can't just go swapping blu-ray drives...they have to be married. Was this the original drive that came with the PS3 or do you not know? Ex. Was this playing disks at one point in time and isn't now? Also, double check the ribbon cable for the blu-ray drive. It wiggles out pretty easily and can come loose. A lot of users have used a piece of plastic to wedge into the connector with the ribbon cable and then tape it down so it won't come out as easily.
Yes I believe it is the original drive. I got it when it was not reading discs with that drive in it. I realize you can't just swap drives but this is on a low FW and I went through the process of downgrading it and re marrying this drive to be safe, and remarrying the others when I tested them. I've made sure everything is secure so that's why I'm thinking it may be the logic board. I know I would have to remarry th enew one if I got it, I just wanted some other peoples opinions before I tried buying one to test.
No I haven't tried it in another console. I've tried a couple ribbon cables but it's possible both are bad. Unfortuently I don't have a demo to try is there any way to install one without being on PSN?
Edit: I'm dumb I actually did try it in another console and it had the same issue. When not married it obviously wouldn't do anything but after I downgraded that ps3 and remarried it it did the same trying to load thing. This console was overheating so I had limited time each time to test it, but it wouldn't read anything on that console either.
Are demos supposed to not play if your logic board is bad or something?

Yep, they wont play if it's bad. Goto psxstore.com to download a demo (might be psx-store)
