PS3 new HDD OFW 3.66??
PS3 new HDD OFW 3.66?? –

Ok guys I have 2 ps3 slims one has OFW 3.50 and the other has a failed HDD, I have since replaced this faulty HDD with a new 250GB HDD my question is.
The ps3 comes up with an error saying system files missing or something like that and that I need to put in a system update 3.66 or above,
Is there any way to install new HDD without updating firmware?
It said 3.66 or above does this mean that 3.66 is the firmware it is currently running? I would like to avoid any updating as, this slims the chance of future homebrew.
And lastly I have been looking for OFW 3.66 and haven’t been able to find it, know anywhere I can get OFW 3.66?
All PS3 OFW's Ever Created on se7ensins only goes up to OFW 3.56
Thanks in advance

you shouldn't have to install an update to replace your hard drive unless your system was on 3.66 before you replaced the hard drive. The only thing I could suggest to you would be to delete any partition you have on the drive, create an unformatted partition, then go into recovery menu and run through all the restore options. The restore should drop your PS3 back to the firmware that came stock on it. I had 3.55 on mine and did the restore and it installed 3.15 but each model will be different. You may need to have the 3.55 update on a separate usb stick or whatever firmware you're trying to install and do the firmware update from recovery menu
