PS3 to Monitor

Hello, can I connect a PS3 to a Samsung SyncMaster 997mb monitor, so I can play PS3 games in HD on it? The monitor is a FLAT CRT and it has a VGA input, but no DVI. I found a HDMI-DVI cable but it doesn't do me any good.

Perhaps HDMI -> DVI -> VGA? Just a thought, no idea if it would work.

There's also HDMI -> VGA cables available.
