PS3 makes me wanna punch it
PS3 makes me wanna punch it –
Whenever I'm scrolling the XMB it just freezes up and I have to hard shut it down. It just started doing this a few minutes ago. At first I thought it was the new .hex, but then I flashed it to the last .hex it worked with and it did it then too. So it has to be the HDD. I'd hate to have to reformat it and start all over again, it's a 750GB loaded with stuff.
try to use an even older hex (non pl3). restore to factory settings with that recovery menu and see if it continues to happen. if it continues you should remove the hdd and back it up with your pc, then format and start fresh.
It gets stuck even when not in JB mode. It happens everytime I scroll down Games. I'm going to see what it does with the original hdd back in it tomorrow to see if it is the hdd. Thanks for replying I did what you said though, with an older hex and restored it back, still does it.
sound like ur drive is going out better back up now
That's what it was, the hdd was messed up. I guess there's no way to put in an external and get some of that stuff off of there huh.
if u take ur drive out and put it on an external case and plug it to ur pc u should be able to back it up if the drive lets u. if not then just format the drive and try it again on ur ps3 it might have sum bad blocks/sectors
You can also try removing the drive and running spinrite on it (from grc.com) on a pc.
For me that software has saved a lot of drives which looked to be going bad
So, connecting the PS3 drive to the PC will allow you to backup games that you have saved in the GAMEZ directory? I just wonder b/c when I try to FTP back from the PS3 to the PC via ethernet, it always closes off the FTP programů.it dont' matter if i use Gaia or FTP Server when I do it, if I try to FTP FROM the PS3 to the computer, it will boot the PS3 out of whatever program it was on! So, I assume hooking the PS3 drive to the computer directly will allow me to back it up? (i thought the PS3 has a drive that couldn't be read by PCs?? or would this be just for cloning it using a cloning program?)
All contents on PS3 drive are encrypted and thus unreadable on PC. Only way you can access it is via FTP AFAIK
