PS3 on LG E2240 Monitor
I recently bought a PS3, my first time on PS3, and i try to connect to my monitor, using HDMI to VGA cable but somehow it failed to. The monitor displays no signal.
Is anyone out there have similar issue connecting PS3 to LG E2240 monitor.
i believe the ps3 is DHCP compliant when it comes to hdmi connectors. an hdmi connector isnt going to work for what your trying to do, the video/audio signal coming from the ps3 has to "handshake" the monitor. the ps3 isnt getting the "handshake" so it is not going to send any data through the cable. its like the connection is encrypted, and your monitor doesnt have the know how to decrypt it. see where im going? i think an rca to vga adapter would work, but i have never tried it. otherwise just plug it to a tv
You can't use a HDMI to VGA cable without having the digital HDMI signals converted to analog VGA signals. Your cable is a pass through cable and does not contain any D/A conversion hardware. Your best bet is to buy a HDMI to DVI converter cable for your monitor or buy one of those HDMI to VGA converter boxes.
those things can get pricey too. i would consider just updating your monitor. be sure to get one with hdmi and vga
And unless your monitor has DVI, you won't see an improvement from using a regular A/V (proprietary connector) to VGA cable. You can probably get one of those for cheap.
