Ps3 JailBreak - Where is the HomeBrew?
Ps3 JailBreak - Where is the HomeBrew? –
Just checked and it does have a homebrew mode - It does allow running of custom pkg files
which is how the loader gets put onto the ps3 in the first place
Ignore the post therefore. it would seem that all may be well.
From looking at this new mod chip.
It seems to only allow two things. The first is ripping Original Disc Games to Run from the HDD
It also allows to run games from the HDD
It does not seem to allow the ability in the menu to load custom Pkg files.
So in the current release it seems there is no way for a home brew scene to develop.
This can only be a bad thing.
The majority of people in this forum (excluding those who have joined in the last few days) are interested in the Homebrew scene and although we may have an interest in apps that allow Iso's to be played it usually via a homebrew app and not generally via a mod chip.
When I read the news post about the jailbreak I was dismayed at the open requests for ability to play downloaded content.
I was just wondering am I the only one who thinks where is the homebrew ability in this mod?
I wouldn't lump us all together like that (people who joined in the last couple of days) as definite pirates. I've been a long time lurker checking out the PS2 homebrew scene (Things like Pgen, SMS, patched codebreaker, GS mode changer).
I'm currently of the mind that PS3 piracy at the moment is a tad redundant in my opinion as it would take about £200 to make this viable by purchasing the dongle and getting myself a 1TB PS3 hard drive (If they're even enabled). When I could simply spend that money on the games I'd lke to buy for the console instead which aren't really that many as it is.
But this thing hasn't been out long enough to say with any certainty the degree to which this dongle will allow for growth within the PS3 homebrew sector. I'm personally hoping for some good emulators and a 'from the HDD MKV player' (yes I know you can stream them!).
But I'm very curious to see what the results will be when these things are being shipped out left right and center. Once the right people get hold of them and sony has made their move by way of the obvious firmware update, things will get very interesting.
At the moment we're in a kind of limbo, they're out there but not enough people have them and not enough is known about them yet.
If they can load the b Manager .pkg, then I'm sure other .pkgs can be loaded, unless there's something I missed!
the possibilities are endless with this new coding. this is a very exciting time.
So, is Boxee ported yet?
i wonder if we could get those homebrew on psp to work on the this device, it is worth a try since they are already made
my only concern is Sony patching this
yes tis device is upgradable but who to say it will work on next FW update, however i am certain just like psp there will be a bypass way to log in.
Man thats a great idea. its worth a shot.
