PS3 has no power!
This is a bit of an odd problem, so I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
Got a PS3, fixed the blu-ray drive but it became misaligned while I was putting it back together. So I took the blu-ray drive apart and turned the PS3 on so I can check the alignment while it was running. Once I'd got it all aligned properly and I'd put some screws in to hold the Blu-ray top in place, I put the PS3 into standby mode.
Now one of my lovely cats decided to barrage through the open PS3 and knock the blu-ray drive. When that happened, the red standby light went OFF... completely. I turned it off and back on at the power switch, no standby.
I left it overnight unplugged and tried again, still no standby.
I've swapped the PSU... still doesn't go into standby.
Does anyone have -any- ideas what the problem could be??? I've also tried a different power cord (robbed the one off my HD monitor) and the problem still remains. I'm very, very confused atm, and ready to kill a cat. -_-
Thats what happens when people have cats..... it was the PS3 telling you you need to get rid of it. lol
But as far as it could go look for damage to the mobo from the drive being knocked into it
Ugh, tell me about it... we've got 6 of the buggers!
Found out it was actually the ribbon cable from the power/eject board to the mobo. It'd been snapped. Thankfully I got some needle-nosed pliers, pulled out the remainder of the cable and got a spare one from a dead blu-ray drive.
It's powering up now, except I've since found out the plug on the BD-ROM controller board for the sensor cable is damaged... so now I need to do a BD Remarry. >_<
