PS3 Hard Drive Corruption
PS3 Hard Drive Corruption –
I'm not sure if this the appropriate forum but I don't see a 'Hardware' section.
To make a long story short I swapped logic boards with a working blue ray drive on my working system and I could not get it to read any disks. I was searching via google and one of the threads said to do 'Restore system files' from the Diagnostic menu to fix it. I did the but then it said that the Hard drive was corrupt and needed to format it. I turned it off and Put another hard drive in and it said ti was corrupt and I formatted it. But now When I put my original hardrive in It always boots to system restore and 'the hard drive is corrupted' and wants to format.
Is there any way to recover my save games from the corrupted hard drive. That's really the only thing I care about on there and I would gladly format if it wasn't for that.
You can't just swap PS3 blue-ray logic boards , it will not read any disc, you have to remarry the drive to PS3.

If yes then : http://psx-scene.com/forums/f177/pos...uestion-82959/ (Possible 3.56 hard drive fix.... Question)
put your original HDD to PS3
run update 3.56v1 , if PS3 boots fine install 3.56v2 then install bigger HDD if you like. if this not work then your original hdd system files are damaged/deleted and because of bug in 3.56v1 you cant fix it so easy.
I use original logic board and swapped blu ray drives. I meant I swapped the logic board from the broken bluray drive to the working blu drive and put that back into my ps3. So the original bluray drive is in there (which is working btw)
I am on 3.41 though and my 750gb still says corrupted. but original hard drive is in the system now and is working. I hope I am able to use my 750gb drive without having to reformat as I would like to be able to save my 'save games'
install 750GB HDD back to PS3 , turn on ps3 to recovery menu and run "Restore File System" , I hope it will help and your PS3 will boot to menu.
