PS3 Gray lines?
I just sold my PS3 on ebay, the guy I sold it to doesn't type English very well.
What I have been able to get out of him, the system will give him gray lines, or not boot up at all. He said something about corrupt data, but I don't know what in the world he is doing.
I didn't give him the same HDMI cable I had been using, and threw in a cable that had been sitting in my apartment. I suggested that he try a different cable. In my auction, I didn't specifically say that an HDMI cable would be included, I just thought I was doing him a favor.
I have tried telling him to unplug everything, plug it back in. Make sure the PS3 and TV both know what HD settings to use.
The machine is an 80gig with kmeaw 3.55 on it. I deleted all the PSN games, and the few games I had backed up, and sent him original games.
Anyone have any ideas? Tips? I had this console for two years, never encountered this issue before. I really don't want to have to have him ship it back. It cost me $40 to ship it, and the money I made is not that great.
I shipped it in a box, inside of a console carrying backpack. It had plenty of packing / padding, and there could not have been any damage from shipping.
He was asking me how to pirate games and other stuff. So, is there any chance this could be from installing a bad pkg? I don't know if he is savvy enough to install a new pup file.
Did you tell him it was a cfw ps3?
Yep, he was aware. He wanted me to keep the psn games on that I had. I told him that I was comfortable sending the HD with anything he did not have rights to. He wanted me to leave Rogero on it.
So, I imagine he knew it was a cfw.
If that was the case you should of just gave him a clean 3.55 OFW ps3 so he could do whatever he wanted. Since it is ebay he can make it seem like you gave him a faulty ps3 also a ps3 with CFW (Cant sell on ebay) he can easily say that you gave him a faulty ps3 and ebay will garnish your earnings (if you are under the 21 day wait period with paypal) Sounds like to me it wasnt a problem on your end on a problem on his. Anyways if he complain to ebay he "will" get his money back. Which is why I dont sell on ebay if you had pictures of it up and working then "maybe" they will side with you.
Here is the listing that I had put on.
Here is the link to what I had here. With more pictures. Also, posted in the ebay link.
So since it's clearly works he messed it up then
He just asked if he could send it back. I don't want to reply. I only sold the console, not the know how to pirate games. If he did mess it up, I don't want to be stuck with the unworking machine...
Gah, I hate ebay sometimes.
This where the gray area comes in. If he complains he can get his money back through paypal
He may have had a faulty one and guts swapped the internals of yours with his faulty PS3.
that's what it sounds like. If you do take it back then it will probably just be the case you sent him with his faulty guts in it. Not so sure about not being able to sell a ps3 with custom firmware on ebay. You say you deleted all the games so everything that was on there was open source and contained no pirated software.
