PS3 Freezing –
Got my hands on a fat ps3 that had freezing issues. I replaced the thermal compound and it seemed to work fine. It is on firmware 2.30 and I was upgrading to 3.41 and it froze at 0%, so I reset it and got screen to reformat hard drive because of corrupted data, now it's freezing at 99%. I can't get to recovery menu, I think because the firmware is to low. Any ideas on this freezing issue?
Don't know, you can try recovery mode or see if you can reinstall the file system, then reinstall firmware if that fails. Does it boot up and still show corrupt data or is it a brick now? If it still boots up and shows that message, try changing the hard drive. Any sata laptop hard drive should work...
Yeah, still boots up to the 'corrupted data' screen and format stops at 99%. If I format the hard drive in a PC, then reconnect it to the PS3, do you think that might help? I dont have a spare hard drive to test if it is a hard drive issue, so if not I guess i'll have to wait until I can get one.
