ps3 flashing red light crash

Almost at the end of Mass Effect 2 and the bugger decides to crash! Got single red light flashing. Most upset,using old 40gb fat model. Had it for years. Is this the end?

sorry, im afraid your ps3 is dead. best thing to do at this point is call sony. if its still under warranty you may have it easier.

no..! don't do that.. they would update your console without your knowledge.. try taking it to a local repair shop if you can't manually fix it yourself

bad coreOS, mine does this but was caused by Waninkoko CFW 3.55v1

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this, dont mind getting my hands dirty! Or is this a job for the pros.

my guess is you'll probably have to manually reflash your coreOS, you'll need the Infectus chip, solder,small wire, soldering iron, superb soldering skills, magnifying glass, coreOS dump (yours and a good one) nand flash program, screw drivers, knowledge of the PS3 motherboard, etc...

Junk it, or do the ylod fix and get all your saves n stuff, It Will Die again.. Even after proper fixing flux, heatgun. I had a 80gb phaty dieo n me 2wice, now wont even power on, no red light.. BooomBoom

So i bought a ps3 slim, Problem Solved, Expect i got it brand new and it has 3.56 on it, ,, o well i am waiting for 3.56 cfw so i can play snes

BTW i have successfully installed a 750gb in my brand new slim no problem. I jsut dled the latest update form sony website then usb stick, then hdd format,,

I dont know why but in previous firmwares, you could jsut put the hdd in and it would format thats it. Why in 3.56 does have to redo the firmware also? i dont know...

Is not the 3.56, is the slim model that causes you to update the firmware again

Yeah,got ylod fix done for £40,worked fine for a couple of hours then CLICK went off again. Just got a slim 160gb. But also had to update to 3.56. Managed to get my game saves off the old one so happy days!
