Hi mate, the only way to replace a complete ps3 disc drive is to remarry it while on firmware 3.55 or below, being on 4.11 I'm pretty sure that it will have to be sent in to sony, that's why the new drive isn't working.

Have you change the PCB from your old drive to the new one?
You MUST use the original PCB that came with your PS3. I'm not sure if you can do it or not in 4.11 but I guess you can, the pcb is where all the data/encryption is, so you are only changing the "mechanical" part of your drive.
    Good Luck Mate.

if changing the drives make sure you get the exact same model, if it be 400a or 410a. difference 400a has drive logic board exposed, 410a has a metal bottom plate covering drive board up. anyway, keep original drive board and put on new drive as its locked to the m/b, do not lose it or change it. if drive has not sorted fault, try laser, drives rarely go faulty unless you dropped console or put coins in drive... it happens, seen it alot. is discs are spinning but nothing showing on screen you more than likey have corrupt data

This is an easy fix. You dont need to be on 3.55 or lower like that guy said or remarry it. You can only remarry it if you dont have the logic board that is on the bottom of the drive. If you changed the board off the 1st drive and put it onto the new drive everything should work perfectly. Im a professional console repair. If youd like you can check my page and you will see my Thread that is posted! Hope this helped.
