Hi..
if i wanted to sell my ps3 on ebay with CFW, would there be any danger i could get into trouble???
If you say in the listing that it has custom firmware installed then it will probably get removed
The thing with ebay is they dont condone any sort of piracy or modding. You have to be clever in the way that you list your item giving a hint of something special without actually going into to much detail.I would list the ps3 something like.PS3 still running 3.55 firmware with free gifts included.MESSAGE ME FOR MORE DETAILS.
Modding your console isnt illegal, however Ebay will remove your listing if you advertise this.
The best way to advertise a modded console is to you words like the poster above mentioned, "custom Firmware" and leave it at that or use the word special playstation with homebrew etc. Dont use any alert words like Geohot etc.
Anyone who is on the lookout for a modded console will understand what you mean, and anyone who dosent will send you an email.
Modded consoles are sold on ebay, you just have to read between the small print.![]()
thanks for the advice. i started to make the autction and then relised it could be removed i originally worded it like
Sony Playstion 3 3.55 Kmaew CFW, i guess i will just remove the kmaew![]()
I wouldn't recommend trying to sell a modified PS3 in the first place. If the buyer knows how to use a CFW (s)he will also know how to install such. If the buyer doesn't know how to use a CFW (s)he will keep pestering you about why it doesn't work. Also, the wording "custom firmware" or such might turn some possible buyers away and thus all you accomplish is limit your market.
Just install OFW 3.55 and state the firmware version in your advertisement, the people interested will just install the CFW 3.55 afterwards then.
I would disagree.
I wanted a modded Xbox, but instead of going out to buy one and taking it home to mod I decided to go the ebay route.
I could have quite eaily modded it myself but i decided to avoid the hassle and buy it from elsewhere.
I would say the same for a PS3, whilst its easy for most of us to be able to mod one Im guessing there are plenty of people out there who would like to have a modded PS3 but wouldnt have a clue how to mod one and are going through ebay right now looking for one.
You only have to see how quick Xbox consoles that are modded go on ebay.
im kinda with bluloa on this.
it would be much easyer to purchase a workin CFW PS3, then have to try and install your own PS3 cfw? I have looked for along time a modded xbox360 on ebay, but ive had no joy. i have attempted to do 1 myself by flashing the drive. but i had no luck. so the time and effort spent doing this would have been easyer for me at least to purchase 1 already flashed
Exactly.. that's the problem you may encounter.. it is always harder/ longer to try selling a modded console anywhere.. unless the person that intends to purchase is seeking for one (not many at all) My advice would be to just sell it with the 3.55 ofw on ebay instead of cfw.. this way it would be safer & easier.. i'm sure your main focus is on selling it.. that's the easiest way.. if anything you could always send them the info on how to make it into cfw.. even lil teenagers do it

lol..

I'd second that. True, there could be someone who just wants to buy one that already has cfw on it, but I don't know if it'll make that much of a difference, and cfw may scare away some other potential buyers, as silly as that could bePersonally, I would put 3.55 ofw on it and be sure you note that it has 3.55 on it in your ad. I think the vast majority of people that would be interested in a modded ps3 would know why that's important and would be happy enough when they see that, and it would save them the trouble of having to contact sellers to see what fm is installed on the machine being sold, i.e. increase the likelihood they stop searching around and just buy your machine.
