PS3 does not detect USB flash drives?
PS3 does not detect USB flash drives? –
Ok so I am trying to install custom firmware onto my PS3 and I am at the step where I am recovery mode and I need to plug in a USB drive and update the firmware. However each time I tell it to update, it says
My PS3UPDAT.PUP is in the PS3/UPDATE/ folder and I have tried it on three different USB drives but none of them work? :S
No applicable update data was found.
Insert storage media that contains update data of version
3.55 or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons
at the same time.
i have the same problem it detects the usb in xmb for vid or music but the for updates nothing.
i got it to work here's what i did i formated my pendrive fat32 connect it to the ps3 retail mode copy any save data to the usb stick.plug it in your PC and open ps3 folder and create UPDATE folder then place the UPDAT.PUP inside. hope this helps!

1 you guys need to get the right region update for your ps3's. or try this first when you go in recovery system update re-insert your usb sticks because when your ps3's starts up the usb doesn't start up with it you need to reinsert it. or if that doesn't work try the first one above and combine it with it
do u nedd a 4gb usb drive to use??
i have a 2gb usb stick by my ps3 dosen't recognize it and its fat32 bt my ps3 dosent recognize it what's the problem?? any solution???
