My friend gave me his PS3 that has an issue with the disc drive. It accepts and ejects any disc, but it seems to click a few times when you insert a disc. Would this be an issue with the lens, or perhaps a mechanism? I tried opening it up months ago, but when I got to the disc drive everything was extremely overwhelming so I basically gave up. Does anybody have any idea as to what the problem could be?
For now I am using the PS3 as a Netflix machine and a source for my audio equipment. Does anybody have suggestions for making the most out of a PS3 without a disc drive? It would be pretty cool if I could rip a game I own and play it off of a hard drive or something along the lines of that. I'm not a huge gamer by any means, but it would be nice to play the Bioshock Infinite I just bought (my brother owns a working PS3, I play it on there every now and then).
So in short my two questions are:
1.) What is wrong with my disc drive?
2.) How can I make the most out of my PS3 with a messed up disc drive?
Thank you for all of your patience, I'm obviously new to this forum. Looking through some of the stickies, there seems to be some knowledgeable and helpful people here. Thanks in advance! If there is anything I'm missing that you may need to know, feel free to ask!
