PS3 broken blu ray drive? help
PS3 broken blu ray drive? help –
I apologize if this isn't the correct section for my thread.
Anyway here I am with a pretty bad problem. I was playing a game on my PS3 slim last week and I heard a weird noise coming from the disc drive. It stopped, I thought nothing of it but still was unsure.
Slowly my games kept freezing and now my PS3 doesn't grab my discs at all. I disassembled my PS3 a few times now with checking to see if anything was stuck or jammed. I really can't tell if theres anything wrong with it from looking at it. I tried manually inserting a disc and watching the mechanism at play but it seems like it doesn't insert correctly.
Ok another problem is that the PSN Store doesn't load. Just a black screen. No apps will work like Showtime etc. Black screen. Same with trying to load Multiman (Im guessing because a working blu ray drive is needed) I noticed a few icons are now saying you can't perform this operation while in demo mode.
Can someone please help me with this situation. I would be very grateful. And if I need to buy a new blu ray drive - could someone provide a decent website in USA.
I am running Rogero 4.30 CFW and I have done a PS3 restore (Did I **** up there?)
First, did you tried to reinstall your firmware again? If that doesn't work I guess your BlueRay drive is broken and must be replaced.
When I try to UPDATE my firmware (Rogero 4.30) in the recovery menu it just searches for USB for a long time then says corrupt data.
I am able to fit two discs in my PS3 so the alignment must be wrong.
Can you please tell me how to align it back to normal
why would you shove 2 discs in the drive? That alone will break your drive. It's delicate electronics not rebuilding an engine. Replace your bluray player
sorry for my wording in my post. I didn't literally shove two discs in. I was slowly sliding another one to see if it was going to happen which its not suppose to
What you have to realize is that electronics like BluRay players are precision manufactured. Components usually have less than 1/100th of an inch tolerance for where internal components are located for it to function. Overheating, rough handling, and even dust particles can cause complete failure
There's nothing you can do to fix it outside of trying to give it a good cleaning first if dirty - or if it's not dirty replace the bluray drive
Ok I understand that, thank you. But can you please tell me why Netflix, Multiman, Showtime, etc all give me a black screen. Is it because the blu ray drive is needed but dead?
update: I can't upgrade to new version of Rogero CFW. It says corrupted data at about 86%
