PS3 BLU RAY PROBLEM. –
A friend has a YLOD PS3 that was on firmware 3.56, it was reflowed and seems to work but we hadn't triend any games/demos yet. So he updated to the latest firmware as 3.56 isn't moddable anyway.
The problem we have is that the console will not start any demo's (screen stays black when starting a demo) and isn't able to read discs.
The only problem we could think about is that the blu ray system board is defective.
Now my question is, is there another way to fix it, other than buying a new board and desoldering the flash chip and soldering it back on the new board?
When you relowed did you relow the 2 small chips below the cpu and th two small chips below the GPU, the two small chips on the back below the back of the CPU and below the back of the GPU? Because a set of those is used for blu ray function and may need to be reflowed as well in order for it to work.
i wonder if this is my problem also? i reflowed my ps3's and have a blueray problem with one of them aswell. does your loading icon spin? does the disc spin? what other info can you tell me about the problem? , im about to do the whole new board chip swap and what happens may help you.
The icon spins if you put in a DVD or a PS3 game. Sometimes for 30 seconds, sometimes indefinately long. We can hear the disc spin up normally.
All the chips below the CPU and GPU got reflowed according to the "Gilsky" tutorial video on youtube.
@psmad Did you already swap the board to see if it was related to the board?
@Kuat What do you mean, seems like something bugged, I see no comment.
