PS3 blinking red light, shutdown when gaming.
PS3 blinking red light, shutdown when gaming. –
My PS3 keeps shutting down while playing Uncharted 3. It nearly always shuts down after 30 minutes, no give or take, literally 30 minutes. I get the blinking red light but no YLOD, it'll turn straight back on.
I have replaced the heat sink paste but it still does the same thing over and over. The PS3 has been on 10 minutes as we speak just sat on the XMB and it is getting fairly hot so I don't think the heat paste has been applied incorrectly. It seems to me that either the PSU is on its way out or the PS3 just isn't expelling the heat fast enough. The fan doesn't appear to reach level 4/5 either, it gets loud but not so loud its annoying (which I'd expect being that it gets so hot).
I have an APS 227 in my PS3, it barely gets hot either, not even luke warm!
I hope you guys can help,
try running it without the case on and see if it goes longer if it does then its probably an over heating propblem. also have a look at the heat sinks and see how much heat sink compound has transferd over to them if you have patches missing then the heatsinks have probably warped buy some copper shims and see if that helps if all else fails try a reflow and reapply some good heat sink compound or just totally ignore me i maybe totally wrong but thats what i would try. good luck

Hi take the ps3 apart and let it bath in flux and then reflow the board and put on artic silver 5 and you are good to go :=)
