ps3 black screen/ power button broken

hi, iv just got a ps3 that was not working and when i plug it in it doesnt show up on the tv iv seen a power button trick but the power button is broken so cant do that, the little metal bit of the power button has broken off but the eject button is fine and beeps when pressing it i have the lid off the ps3 to look inside about the button and thats how i found the metal bit broken off is there a way i can get the ps3 to show up on the screen the green light is on but no picture on tv

i have just orderd the part to replace the broken power button to see if i can get into recovery mode, saying its broken and need to get a new one is jumping the gun a bit, reason wy it cant be fixed ??? would be good for you to post

im seeing if its the hard drive being corrupted and then i can replace it or if i can restore the ps3

Eh what you said is true but if something breaks I'd just sell it for parts and get a new 1 too much money and time gunna be wasted if your ps3 doesnt even work and down the road something else happen when you have to kick out more money.

ok i have got it up and running lol i only paid £40 pound for it as i only wanted the pads as they are £30 each to buy anyways and i got a bargain there lol

i still need a button so its on order and need a new component cable as that one was dodgy

firmware on it is 3.01 can only get it started by holding the power button wilest lid is off and till it beeps once and then twice, if i press it once it wont show up on screen so hopefully this ne button will fix that

its a 60gb ps3 phat

i have a 160gb ps3 slim came with 3.71 and i updated it to 4.00 as i like playing online

still having issues with this ps3 iv done a reflow on it twice and even done the 4 penny trick, i fixed a ps3 yesterday from the YLOD so i know iv been doing it correct but this one is being a pain it will start up ok 1st time then it wont show on tv the next few times and then when i get it on its distorted graphics so not sure what els it can be any ideas ???

i know ppl will say get a new ps3 but i have a ps3 slim, so dont need another im just doing this as a hobby and something to mess with plus its on 3.01 firmware and want to have a go of modding it so any help will be great to get this fixed

sounds to me like you need to just reball the RSX chip. which is a complicated processes unless you know what you are doing.

How are you reflowing? In the oven or with a heat gun?
