PS3 Backup Utility Stuck @ 96% help?

Hey folks.

So today i decided it was time for a HDD upgrade.

I purchased a Seagate Momentus LP
SATA 320GB, 8MB Cache, 5400rpm.

I backed up my 80gb PS3 to an Iomega 1TB external hdd, which went completely fine. I formatted it to FAT32 as a primary 100gb partition and left the rest as a NTSF partition, unused.

Using the external hdd i backed everything up using the backup utility that comes on the PS3 and it was successful. But now after installing the new HDD into my ps3 and formatting it, the backup utility has gotten stuck while im trying to restore. It made it all the way to 96% with approx six minutes remaining.

IT HASN'T MOVED IN TWO HOURS.

Any suggestions?

PS: this is my second attempt at restoring the data.

What is HDD condition from which You restore system backup? Show his S.M.A.R.T.

God guys i'm having exactly the same problem, i used a 1tb samsung spinpoint hd and i's stocked at 96% it always says 6 minutes remaining please heeelp!!

All fixed guys i just had to wait like one hour maybe less and it completed the backup operation,now it's all restored as first game work both from internal to external hd. For those who are interested the effective space of 1tb hd is 931GB i checked that online too and of course it has to be a 2,5 5400 rpm one.
