Basically my Launch Ps3 (60 GB) is artifacting. I have searched the forums and didn't found anything regarding this problem. My PS3 began artifacting one year ago (not only that, my bd-drive died when it started artifacting).
I fixed my PS3 (bd-drive) and changed the thermal paste, but it still artifacted. Does anybody knows a way to stop the PS3 artifacting? I want to use that PS3 for 3.5 games... (have 2 ps3, both jailbreaked).
Here is a video.
That looks like overheating, or at least that's what my PC used to do when it's GFX card overheated.
I see you mentioned replacing the thermal paste. Did you also clean out the case and fan?
I've seen that in a couple of my games. I thought it was somekind of glitch.
I noticed that Batman's cheek has one of those spikes sticking out all the time.
I have a 60gig from launch. I hope it's not dying.
Cleaned everything, even though, there wasn't a lot of dirt in my PS3. Right now the PS3 is only used for Blu-ray Movies.

Of course if it's already not damaged (i.e. if works ok for at least some time after start). If that's the case, you should disassemble the console and better thermointerface of the GPU.
Well, I just sold the console, found a guy that didn't care that the PS3 was having problems. I will be buying a PS3 slim'.
