Hey buds. My PS3 FROZE on a loading screen playing Sonic Generations and forced me to shut it down manually. When I turned it back on it wont read discs, at all. Wont even acknowledge I stuck one in. Now I'm ticked off, this happened when one of Sony's firmwares messed up on me in the past and I sent it to them to get it fixed... (Which I'm sure they did nothing physically to it as it had the same old stripped out screws when I got it back. Probably just stuck in a custom dongle and rewound my firmware.) Now it's messed up again only this time it wont read ANY discs, last time it'd play PS1 & Ps2 but not PS3.
So I've become interested in this jail-breaking idea. I'm all the way up to date on firmware unfortunately is there any way to do this? On top of that have they made it possible to play off the PS3 HDD? I have a 60G model so I have naitve support for those games (And I'd hate to lose my virtual memory card stuff that's rad.)
Basically what I'm thinking is jailbreaking this one and buying a new slim model for PSN stuff. But then... I got to thinking. To make ISO/CSO's of my PSP games that I own I actually had to have the PSP read them. Is it the same for making digital copies of PS3/2/1 games on the PS3? Cause if it is I'm boned and I'll have to get the thing fixed anyway. If it's not, why would I wanna pay sonly 150 bucks to fix something that has limitless potential already when an additional 50 could get me a brand new (hopefully not as prone to hardware issues) slim model.
Anyway is there anything I can do? Can it be jailbroke? If it can will I lose my PS1/2 compatability? I wanna know what to do!
Thanks ahead of time guys.
