PS3 3.55 bypass?

I heard that the 3.55 upgrade bypass to play online has been patched by Sony.

So is there anyway to play online without upgrading to 3.55 at this point?

I just ordered a jailbreak dongle, but I really want to play COD online while I am waiting for it to come. I am afraid to upgrade because I would not be able to jailbreak. I have searched everywhere but they all have been patched or lies.

I am on fw 3.50 ( obviously) !!!!PLEASE HELP!!!!

afaik it's been patched for a while, but being on 3.50... the jailbreak dongle is useless to you, unless you were going to downgrade first, but just sit tight, and wait a few weeks until failoverflows tools are released, and you'll see custom FW most likely and hopefully a return to psn.

Alan282, You are not alone. I am a noob also on 3.5. I want to login into PSN so I can backup my tropihes. So Im counting on team failoverflows. My PS3key is due to arrive on Tuesday. Then I will downgrade to 3.41 and try the spoof firmware that says 3.55 to see If I can log into PSN to sync my trophies.

Keep in mind you'll lose Bluray playback by downgrading (I'm not to sure on the specifics, never read the thread because I'm already on 3.41) before getting hasty and downgrading, I'd say try and tough it out for a few weeks in january and see what kind of things happen, never know maybe you'll get lucky and you'll be able to jump right in on the action without the need to downgrade.

take precautions to save your BD movie playback

it mostly only happens with 1st year PS3's with 256mb NAND


and you can't log into PSN with spoof,SONY blocked off everything.the 3.55 spoof only helps to not upgrade to 3.55 accidently

and anyway when you downgrade,you lose all data on your HDD,so your trophies will be wiped out.

only chance here is if you have a 1st year PS3 with 256mb nand which some reported doesn't delete data when downgrading but that too isn't confirmed as there were mixed reports

Yup, Thanks I read about the loss of BD movie playback so what I am going to do is remove my 60GB hard drive backing up, then insert my 750GB hard drice and then downgrading, then I will plug my 60GB drive back in and see if I can play my BD movies!

Well mine is not the 1st year ps3 it is the one in 2008 for Christmas. I hope I will be able to downgrade without losing bluray playback. My E3 is coming soon!

Guess I am going to have to wait before playing online again though. =(

I have the 1st year PS3 60gb with 256mb NAND and lost BD playback.

but my data did NOT delete, I had all of my accounts on the PS3

256mb nand, will not format the hard drive upon downgrade, I beleive that's a trait of smaller nand's/SLIM, however, the SLIMs will not lose Blu-Ray playback if my information is correct.

Hopefully with the system being blown wide open there'll be a very easy fix to restore it.
