PS2 and PS1 Mem Card Adaptor for PS3, PC Driver Available?
PS2 and PS1 Mem Card Adaptor for PS3, PC Driver Available? –

I was just at my local retailer and noticed that the PS2 and PS1 Mem Card Adaptor for PS3 is a USB device.
Has anyone tried to get this to work with say EMS's software for their Mem Card reader?
Have any of you heard of a PC device driver being released in the community?
This would make for a easier, faster, more inexpensive way to back-up game saves, and load homebrew that is readily available in every major retailer!

I guess you never heard of LaunchELF. That's by far the most inexpensive way to backup game saves, cause it's for free. And besides that it's a better solution than most other products you'd have to buy, like the crappy MAXDrive with it's corrupting software.
If you still don't have LaunchELF, go get it!

Yeah MaxDrive corrupted all my saves
So now I used uLaunchELF

I've already made a tool to extract the contents of the PS2 virtual saves the PS3 uses and mapped 99% of the format but the problem lies in that it contains a digital sig, so no resigning of the files as yet.
As to using the adapter you mention on a PC I guess it might be possible to get a driver up and running but it could be that the device relies on the PS3 in regards to the MagicGate on the PS2 cards. At the moment and without even seeing a PS3 let alone having access to one or this device I'd guess that a driver to read PS1 cards would be relatively easy but one to read PS2 cards may not.

I found the program, and managed to extract one of my exports. Now what do I do to re-add it to the PS2 memory card?

Either use PS2 Save Builder to reconstruct the files into a save that your particular device supports or use uLaunchELF to copy the files back to your PS2 card

Thanks guys for the ulaunch reference. It is the best method I have come across for backing up game saves. I have used it for quite some time now.
With regards to the ulaunch method being free, that is only in relation to ulaunch itself being a free of price software. One would either need to have a mod chip, or materials to run the exploit; USB stick, and/ or a cheat device. When I bought materials to exploit the PS2 it cost me around $40 dollars since I had to buy a cheat device (AR Max) ~$20, USB drive ~$15 and PS1 game $5. So, $15 for the mem adapter seems like a steal in comparison, if used only to install the exploit.
I'm actually more interested in this type of driver as a method for my friends and family that would never run the exploit, or unlauch, but would certainly like to copy their game saves to the PC without all the steps involved with the cheat devices, or ulaunch.
Does anyone else see this whole no mem card slot in the PS3 as a way to scamming you into buying this adapter? A textbook Sony move.

I'd say that less than 50% of eventual PS3 users would actually use the memory card slot if installed on the PS3. By removing it Sony have saved money which is then partially passed onto you, I'm sure a lot of people would rather pay $30 less than pay $30 more for something they'll never used.
Those who want or need to transfer saves from the old memory cards will end up buying this (or using my software if the digital signature is ever figured). So Sony and 50% (if not more) of consumers benefit from it being removed, simple business logic really

I downloaded the PSV exporter and the Save Builder, but it does not recognize the outputted files. I have both an Action Replay Max & a Codebreaker v8.

You are filling in the Root/ID section and adding each file rather than the folder yes?
