Well no. If you were trying to use a PS2 game downloaded from the PSN store and somebody gave you a bad rap then it would do the same thing. It would just black screen and force you to turn off your PS3 to get out of that. I'm willing to bet that the ISO isn't encrypted right or you didn't activate the rap right.
Try this instead. Find a legit PS2 game from the PSN store. Don't ask me where to find one - they're not hard to find. Use that rap file to decrypt the ISO inside of that pkg. Activate that rap file. Install that pkg. If that game plays fine, then you're set up to do others. Use that rap file to encrypt a new ISO and see if it doesn't fix it
I'm not much on following somebody else's guide or using something of theirs that I can do myself. I used the Dora Saves The Mermaids game as my base to reencrypt all my ISO's with that rap/klicense and they play fine. It's a small download if you can find it and I haven't had any problems reencrypting other games with that base game
