Problems with PS3 –
Recently my house had a power surge and my TV, dyer and i think my ps3 were victims. The problem is that there is no video on the TV and it will not video reset (by holding down the power button 5 sec). I already checked the HDMI cable and it is good. The system powers up and i believe that it is working, but no video. Is it the power supply or a fuse somewhere?
If you believe it is working, I'll assume that you see the green light on.
Does it beep at all?
Can you use your controller and can you hear the "tick" sound the PS3 should make when moving within the menu?
Yes the green light is on, and it does beep when turn on and off, but it will not beep using the reset. I can use the controller b/c i turned the console off using it off of memory.no tick
A blown fuse is definatly a possibility after a power surge. To check the fuses within the PSU you obviously need to open the console (voiding warrenty if applicable) and remove the PSU. You will need do disassemble the power supply to get to its mainboard where you should find 2 fuses. They are not transparent so you will not be able to see if they are blown but rather use a multimeter and perform a continuity test on the fuses, or if you only have an old school multimeter or ohmmeter you will need to remove the fuses and check the resistance. If you get non-infinite impedance then the fuses are good.
