Problem ftping ps3 –
I have a copy of a backup on my pc, that i was re-copying to my ps3 today. I wanted to use lan, but when i plug the crossover cable into my computer and ps3 my computer doesnt show anything plugged into the ethernet port. I ended up copying it over wireless, which proves the ftp part of it is working fine. Also, i have an xbox that i tried plugging into my computer, and it showed up instantly on the computer, showing that the computer isnt whats going wrong. Does anyone know whats going on here?
Tried a regular cable? The PS3 can auto-negotiate.
i tried that, and in doing so noticed something new. With either a a cross over or normal ethernet cable, if both ends are plugged in, then when i turn on the ps3 it shows up as connected on the pc for a few seconds, then goes back to saying its unplugged. launching ftp servers, etc does nothing to change this.
Try manually setting your IP info.
do you mean on my pc? If so i tried that, and it didnt work
That did it! It was a combination of not using a normal ethernet cable, ip settings on my ps3, and the wrong ps3 ftp server software (just figured this out on my own)! Thanks a ton dude, this makes my transfers about 1000 times faster!
