    EDIT: now have a video.. might be YLOD...
    I have a heatgun ready, but dont want to make it worse if it isnt in need of reflowing.
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0d6ht3hBIQ"]YouTube - PS3 YLOD but not IMMEDIATE[/ame]

    is it Ylod?

    My system can boot and play oblivion for a time ranging between 2 minutes to half an hour before it BEEPS 3 times then FLASHES a red light.

    I ordered Thermal paste, and going to reapply it soon.
    I heard it is overheating, is that correct?
    also, the fan never gets faster, it always stays at its lowest setting. I wonder if there is a way to turn the speed up? maybe thinking of installing a fan controller and hooking the fan straight up to a 12V line...

    any ideas other than what i wrote?

    I had the same problem with my 60gb PS3. Don't know how to explain, but just opening the PS3 and blowing out the dust with canned air and using a soft toothbrush for the fan blades, fixed that issue for me. I also read that if you screw the screws too tight on the re-assembly can cause that also......

    Typical consoles are so cheap during this generation, I don't mean in the buying sense either.
