Playing games from backup = lots of heat?

I don't know if this is normal, as I haven't had a PS3 for very long, but I have been playing heavy rain from backup using Open Manager 1.15 and the TI-84+ PSGroove using the Hermes V3 payload. I have noticed that the system is getting quite hot, hotter than I would expect. It's not so hot that I cannot touch it and it seems to be heat located in the back right corner (facing towards the console, the back right part). Any ideas? Is this normal heat for a system? I feel like my Xbox 360 Jasper Unit heats up less than this thing does.
Also, I've placed the system on a better surface, thinking it was the carpet, but it's still quite hot.

Even if for you it's really somehow hotter than it was earlier it certainly has nothing to do with playing from backup.
For me, the heat seems is located at back-left corner -- back-center. Anyway, I wouldn't say it's hot, I'd say it's just pretty warm (playing Heavy Rain). But then again, it's chilly now in my apartment.
