OK, reading for days, please go easy on a newb

OK, system ceche-01 fat 80g, ofw 3.41 looking at cfw3.55. Concerns are brd playback if downgrading. if i go to ofw 355 from cfw355 do i still loose brd playback?? I don't use psn, i do use my ps3 for mkv with ps3 media server. sometimes i watch trailers on my ps3. is there a psn ip or something i can block in my router to avoid the psn but still be on the net (not looking for multi just surfing). Should a dongle be on hand before heading down this road (say a ps3 break 1.2) ??

slight concern about bricking, more about stability streaming mkv's.

last question, is a WD blue still not a good choice for an upgrade ?? i see blacks are say 60-70 for a 500g. thoughts ??

go with wuts cfw to keep bd playback, if u need a link for it, just ask, no bricks with that fw, and WD is a good choice for a hdd upgrade

You don't lose bd playback with kmeaws, and it's way more compatible then wutangrza's cfw.
